Transparency: the root of a fair gastronomic ecosystem

Transparency: the root of a fair gastronomic ecosystem

In an era where people care more than ever about what’s in their glass and on their plate, transparency becomes essential. As a brewery that has worked for generations with spontaneous fermentation, natural ingredients, and a deep respect for craft and terroir, we at 3 Fonteinen wholeheartedly welcome the oriri initiative. This new digital platform opens up the gastronomic chain, making it clear for everyone to see—from field to fork, from grain to geuze.

A platform that unites farmers, brewers, chefs, makers, and consumers, while making the origin of raw materials traceable, has the power to help people make the right choices with confidence. It shows who plays what role and recognises every craft and contribution in the process. This is vital, because true sustainability is built on relationships.

Trust is built with people, not certificates

At 3 Fonteinen, we choose not to take industrial shortcuts. We buy our grains and hops directly from farmers—locally and at a fair price. Brewer's barley, ancient wheat varieties, Coigneau hops, Schaarbeekse cherries, Gelrode peaches, and grapes from friendly biodynamic winemakers: all sourced straight from the field and orchard, without middlemen or anonymous bulk purchasing. These direct relationships build trust. We know who grows our ingredients. We know their methods, their beliefs, and their challenges. And they know ours.

Still, this story often remains behind the scenes. The bottle speaks volumes to those who know it, but it reveals little to those unfamiliar with the journey it took. oriri aims to change that. They offer a stage for stories that would otherwise stay hidden. For collaborations based on shared values rather than volume. For connection, instead of concealed links in a chain.

Bringing consumers and producers closer

The new generation of consumers asks questions—and rightly so. Where does my food come from? Who made it? What is its ecological footprint? When I buy something, with whom do I share my values? These are not difficult customers. These are people who want to choose consciously and use their purchasing power to support sustainable systems.

If we, as a sector, genuinely want to produce sustainably and ethically, we must not avoid these questions but embrace them. A transparent platform gives producers the chance to make their commitment visible and to actively involve consumers in their story. This isn't one-sided marketing; it's about mutual understanding.

An ecosystem instead of a chain

Transparency is not just about sharing information. It is about working together. It’s about acknowledging that a brewery cannot exist without maltsters and farmers, that a chef cannot excel without passionate producers, and that a fair price begins with fair dealings.

A platform that brings all actors together and makes relationships visible is not a simple directory. It is an invitation to collaborate. To strengthen an ecosystem where every part can flourish. Where knowledge is shared, where challenges are faced together, and where new initiatives can arise from mutual respect.

From origin to future

We are proud of our history, but we are even prouder of the choices we make today. Because these choices determine how our story continues tomorrow. As a producer with deep roots in the Pajottenland and the Senne Valley, we believe that true progress lies in connection: with the land, with the people, with each other.

For us, oriri is not a technological gimmick but an essential tool for honest gastronomy. It makes visible what otherwise remains hidden and opens the door to a future where every product is not only flavourful but also rooted in integrity.

Let's brew that future together. On oriri.
