Transparency as the Foundation of a Fair Gastronomic Ecosystem

Transparency as the Foundation of a Fair Gastronomic Ecosystem

In an era where consumers increasingly demand to know what's on their plate and in their glass, transparency has become a necessity. As a brewery that has worked for generations with spontaneous fermentation, natural ingredients, and a deep respect for culinary artistry and terroir, we at 3 Fonteinen wholeheartedly welcome the oriri initiative.

oriri is a new digital platform that makes the gastronomic chain open and insightful – from field to fork, from grain to gueuze. A platform that connects farmers, brewers, chefs, makers, and consumers, while simultaneously making the origin of raw materials traceable, empowers consumers to make the right choices with confidence. It highlights everyone's role and acknowledges every culinary artisan and their contribution to the process. This is essential because true sustainability is about relationships.

Trust is Built with People, Not Certificates

At 3 Fonteinen, we choose not to take industrial shortcuts. We purchase our grains and hops directly from local farmers at a fair price. Brewer's barley, ancient wheat varieties, Coigneau hops, Schaarbeek cherries, Gelrode peaches, grapes from biodynamic winemaking friends: all sourced directly from the field and orchard, without intermediaries or anonymous mass production. These direct relationships foster trust. We know who cultivates our ingredients. We understand their methods, their beliefs, their challenges. And they know ours.

However, this story often remains untold. The bottle speaks volumes to those who know it, but reveals little to those unfamiliar with its journey. oriri aims to change this. They offer a platform for stories that would otherwise remain hidden. For collaborations based on shared values rather than volume. For connection, instead of concealed links.

Bringing Consumers and Producers Closer

The new generation of consumers asks questions – and rightly so. Where does my food come from? Who made it? What is its ecological footprint? With whom do I share my values when I make a purchase? These are not difficult customers. These are individuals who want to make conscious choices and use the power of their purchases to support sustainable systems.

If we, as a sector, truly want to produce sustainably and ethically, we must not avoid these questions, but embrace them. A transparent platform offers producers the opportunity to make their commitment visible and to actively involve consumers in the story. It's not one-sided marketing, but mutual understanding.

An Ecosystem Instead of a Chain

Transparency isn't just about sharing information. It's about collaboration. It's about recognising that a brewery doesn't exist without maltsters and farmers, that a chef doesn't excel without passionate producers, and that a fair price begins with fair relationships.

A platform that unites all actors and visualises these relationships is more than a simple overview. It's an invitation to collaborate. To strengthen an ecosystem where every component flourishes. Where knowledge is shared , where challenges are faced together, and where new initiatives can emerge based on mutual respect.

From Origin to Future

We are proud of our history, but even prouder of our choices today. Because these choices determine how our story will continue tomorrow. As a producer with deep roots in the Pajottenland and the Zennevallei, we believe that true progress lies in connection: with the land, with the people, with each other. For us, oriri is not a technological gimmick, but an essential tool for honest gastronomy. It makes visible what would otherwise remain hidden, and it opens the door to a future where every product is not only flavourful, but also rooted in integrity.

Let's brew that future together. On www.oriri.food.
